Welcome Back to Reality

The first meeting of the year: Welcome back to reality!

Welcome to our two guests: Nancy & Nemir.
Today we were challenged to not use the word “good” for the whole meeting.
Max Delaney: The Heart of the Mainland
Led us through what to do throughout the year at Lake Dunstan (Cromwell) and central Otago in general. It’s a great area to go – especially the new cycleway around Lake Dunstan on an e-bike. Max talked about when it is best to visit and what to do in each season.
Colin Hampson: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Colin started with a song, a different and to be encouraged way to start. He asked us to listen as this was important and central to his speech. The ability to listen to what people have to say is Colin’s key leadership style, which has allowed him to transition throughout his career. A key message was to take the time to listen to others in order to help and support them before it is too late.
Sabine Parry: Mentoring at Boaters in 2022
Sabine led a brainstorming and whiteboard session to understand what the club thinks about mentoring. This session had two parts, 1) What does the Club think it is and 2) What are the challenges of the Mentor/Mentee relationship. Also discussed was the upcoming event at Avebury House on the 8th Feb, to further develop the theme and video our discussions
