The Toastie Award

What is the infamous toastie award? It is an award given out once at every meeting to a speaker that has done extraordinarily well.

How did it start? David explained the interesting origin story of the Toastie Award. It was many years ago when the club was in trouble, the venue kept changing due to pressures after the Christchurch earthquakes and club engagement was trending down.

That was when a relatively new member, with only a few months of Toastmasters to their name, stepped up and took the role of club president. They got the club into a better venue and did a number of things that helped the club return to its once healthy state. One of those things was the Toastie award.
