The theme of ‘Loud Clothing Friday’ was led by Richard Smart, who donned the Toastmaster’s hat for the first time.
The meeting was entertaining with stories of Boaters members fashion mishaps… you had to be there.

Shaun Jacob revisited a speech he had previously presented on characters from graphic novels he admired. The goal of this project was to take feedback he had received to make this speech even better.

Max Delaney delivered an engaging speech on his experience of being mentored and stepping up to be a mentor. It was great to hear that Max is basically Bear Grylls but has a better taste in shirts.

David Copper addressed an important issue with his speech, shedding light on a request he is presenting for sensory playgrounds to help support the neuro-diverse community. This was a real eye opener to challenges that families are facing out there.

Mastering time management: Sticking to the schedule and seamlessly navigating through the agenda is a critical skill. Members appreciate the opportunity to practice this essential aspect of effective communication and leadership.

Balancing presentation and connection: The use of slides during speeches can be a potential distraction to both presenters and the audience. A reminder to maintain a strong connection with the audience.

Solid presence: The concept of the “speakers’ waltz” was addressed – a reminder for speakers to stand confidently and plant their feet firmly. This simple yet impactful tip can enhance the delivery of speeches.
